Annual Vacations spent in a Laurie Baker house acted as the inspiration for Jayakumar Soman, the principle architect of “Jayakumar and Associates”, to choose architecture as his profession. Pursuing his dream he qualified as an architect from the M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bangalore. Taking after his muse from student days, he strives to use traditional materials in a contemporary context as his media.

With twenty years of professional experience, he ventures forth in his practice with the belief that, “a building should be an expression of the clients needs, and not just the architect’s whims per se. Holding on strongly to his design philosophy of working towards creating energy efficient buildings incorporating rainwater harvesting and waste water management into his buildings”.
